Warm and Cool

Another year has gone by.  Christmas is here again and New Years day is coming up.  I'm always surprised by what I get for Christmas.  It's nice when it's something I would not have bought for myself, but am glad I received.

The search for magic

When I was a a little girl I loved it when my mom would take my brother and I to look at Christmas lights.  The world was transformed into something new and shining.
Now I find myself longing for that magic even when it isn't Christmas time.  And maybe it's not the magic I'm searching for, but the ability to feel it in everyday moments.  I have grown up into a cynical woman who longs to be less cynical.

I've come to realize that certain objects hold the power to transport the mind and change emotions, like the feel of an acclaimed book in your hands, the smell of a hand made soap or a favorite pair of earrings.  The change may only last a moment, but it's enough to dull that sharp edge.

Choose Fashion

Fashion isn’t the most important thing in the world, but it has it’s place.  There’s something magical and medicinal about the viewing of pretty things, even things I know I will never own.  Life is full of banal experiences.  Good fashion is a respite from the ordinary, everyday and sometimes ugly of life.  We should demand our daily dose of beauty for the sake of our souls.

First Snow

The first snow of the season fell overnight.  I wasn't ready of course, but I'm never ready for snow.  It's almost all gone, but the shock of winter setting in is still with me.

Photo: Hindu goddess

I took this on a cold Sunday morning.  I kind of like the blurred  image.
